Introduction

Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences comprises Shalamar Hospital (SH), Shalamar
Nursing College (SNC) and Shalamar Medical & Dental College (SMDC). Shalamar
Institute of Health Sciences is instituted and run by the Businessmen Hospital Trust, an
umbrella organization to undertake various activities of healthcare and health education.
Shalamar Hospital is the primary source of free and subsidized medical treatment to
hundreds of thousands of patients of northern Lahore and beyond. The systematic
procedures allow maximum number of patients to benefit from the services of the
hospital, outpatient facilities and the 24-hours emergency facility. In order to provide
quality treatment and round-the-clock service to hospital patients, trained and qualified
paramedical staff is a critical pre-requisite. Shalamar Nursing College fills this need
through pre-service training of nurses. Shalamar Medical & Dental College, a recent
addition to the Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences, aims at extending the same spirit
a step further by producing quality medical professionals. The state-of-the-art
infrastructure and outstanding faculty of Shalamar Medical & Dental College ensure
